The Society for Photographic Education’s National Conference is being held in Philadelphia, PA, March 4-7, 2010.

This year’s topic is Facing Diversity:  Leveling the Playing Field in the Photographic Arts, and Priya Kambli will be giving a presentation on the work she showed here last fall.

Sarah Jamison and I have been invited to be portfolio reviewers and will be looking for outstanding work to show at SRO.  In addition to the formal reviews, SPE is also a great opportunity to see hundreds of people’s work in informal review sessions.

Take a look at the conference’s website:  There are a variety of great speakers and workshops, and, one of my favorites, the Friday evening gallery tours.

Hopefully we’ll see you there!

SRO has extended its postmark deadline for entries this year to:  April 5, 2010!

We’ve already recieved several great entries, so don’t forget to send yours in.

SRO will be taking a few weeks off for the holiday break and will return to full power on Monday, January 11.

We have several interviews that are worth reading and encourage you to use some of the break to apply for shows.

Welcome to the SRO Photo Gallery blog!  Housed deep inside the Texas Tech School of Art building, SRO is here to facilitate discussion concerning contemporary photography.  We also serve up eight solo shows a year.  We’ve already set this year’s schedule, but be sure to check out the call for entries in the upper left hand corner.  We are excited to be here and look forward to an engaging conversation!
