“T01_[Z.32.45.37] – T04_[UN.1-7]” by Yuxiang Dong on view at SRO Photo Gallery October 18th – November 12th, 2017

Landmark Arts at the Texas Tech University School of Art presents T01_[Z.32.45.37] – T04_[UN.1-7]  by Yuxiang Dong, the third exhibition in the 2017-2018 SRO Photo Gallery Exhibition Series. T01_[Z.32.45.37] – T04_[UN.1-7] will be on view October 18 – November 12, 2017. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

T01_[Z.32.45.37] – T04_[UN.1-7], in the scheme of archive, comprises various videos, photographic reproductions, scrapbooks, and objects to locate, produce, preserve, and analyze a period of history created and depicted by countless images.

The work investigates the dominant but hardly compatible western discourse and methodology in all fields and disciplines in contemporary Chinese society, including English language, archival science, archaeology, typology, and positivism, among others.

Yuxiang Dong received a BFA in Photography from the Beijing Film Academy, in Beijing, China and an MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. He has exhibited internationally including the JIMEI× ARLES International Photography Festival, Xiamen, Fujian, China, the Second Beijing Photo Biennial, Beijing, China, and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, Minneapolis, MN. Currently, Dong is pursuing his Ph.D. in Media, Art, and Text at the Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA.

The Landmark Arts SRO Photo Gallery is located in the Sub-basement of the Texas Tech School of Art Building. The Art Building is located at 3010 18th Street (near the corner of 18th Street and Flint Ave). Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. On weekdays, paid parking is available on the fourth floor of the Flint Avenue parking facility.
